Let’s Have a Conversation
I believe in the possibilities that open up when we learn to see with new awareness and understanding. Art can help us discover what we’re capable of, change our perspective and find our own way of expressing what we see.
Perhaps you’d like to develop your art through private tuition in Cornwall, join me for live Zoom lessons, or explore my pre-recorded online masterclass. My teaching is built on knowledge, not copying… giving you the understanding to create in your own style.
You might be looking for original artwork or prints, have an idea for a personal commission, or want to explore fresh thinking through an art event for your team.

Jeanni’s Biography
Cornwall Artist and Educator
Jeanni Grant-Nelson is a Cornwall-based artist and educator, and founder and director of Visual Awareness Ltd, trading as Art At The Beach. She established her gallery in Mawgan Porth in 2016, exhibiting her own paintings alongside work by artists she had taught.
Following the gallery’s closure in October 2024, the collection continues online, with a selection displayed at Betty’s Surf Shop in Mawgan Porth. Jeanni continues to paint and teach at Mawgan Porth, where the beach and changing light remain a constant source of inspiration.
Jeanni trained as a teacher at St Luke’s College, Exeter, from 1975 to 1978, and has taught art and drama across the UK and Australia. She has also been Artist in Residence at The Nare Hotel in Cornwall for around 20 years.
Knowledge, Not Copying
Jeanni’s teaching brings together the psychology of seeing, practical observation and the fundamental knowledge behind drawing, perspective and painting. She describes this as the grammar, spelling and punctuation of art… a toolkit that gives people the freedom to make their own artistic choices.
Her lessons are warm, engaging and shaped around the learner. By exploring mindset, physical position and understanding, she helps people question assumptions about their ability and discover what becomes possible when they learn to see differently. The aim is confidence and independence, with each learner developing their own style.
Her teaching is available through face-to-face lessons in Cornwall, live Zoom tuition and her pre-recorded online masterclass.
Art, People and the Bigger Picture
Through Visual Awareness, Jeanni creates art events for businesses, charities and educational organisations, exploring observation, communication, creative thinking and collaboration. Her experience includes work with UK Sport, British Basketball, the Eden Project and neuroscientists at Oxford University, with collaborative events involving up to 450 participants.
Her seascapes, landscapes, architectural drawings, portraits and animal commissions are held in private collections across the UK, Europe, the USA and Australia. Explore Jeanni’s artwork, or discover how a personal commission can capture a place, person or memory that matters to you.
