This canvas isn’t just the view of Mawgan Porth… it’s the whole day gathered into paint.

Hours of sunshine and shifting tides, conversations with curious children, and even showing a few brush techniques by painting butterflies and trees on little hands. Two of my students who’ve become friends stopped by to sit with me, and others came to chat as the painting grew.

Someone even brought me an ice cream, and later a Swim England coach came over to say hello — sent by the organiser who invited me to run their team-building last year. A small reminder of how art, teaching, and connection keep weaving together in unexpected ways.

The painting may be finished, but for me it holds the laughter, kindness, and energy of the whole day.
