A Magical Morning of Painting by the Sea 🎨☀️

We started early this morning to make the most of the still, tranquil beach — golden sand stretching out in silence, the sun casting a gentle shimmer across the waves. With the whole beach to ourselves, we began with the core fundamentals — how to truly see and interpret such a beautiful seascape.

Brush in hand, my lovely student watched her painting come to life — beautifully capturing the light, colour, and atmosphere of this stunning Cornish view. As the sun grew warmer and the wind began to dance across the sand, things got delightfully unpredictable! The paint dried faster, we giggled at the chaos, and somehow it only added to the charm of the day.

The final piece was absolutely gorgeous — a true reflection of both the landscape and her new confidence. She walked away beaming, with a painting to treasure and a memory to keep. 🌊💛

A Perfect Finish to a Magical Course ☀️🎨🌿

Today was the final session of my full 9-hour art masterclass with two wonderful Americans — and what a way to finish! We sat beneath a beautiful old oak tree in the gardens, looking out over the breathtaking views of Cornwall. With a gentle breeze in the sunshine, easels up and brushes in hand, the day unfolded like a painting itself…

There was laughter, learning, and that quiet sense of magic that happens when everything aligns just right.

They told me (and even made a little video!) that despite doing many art courses before, they’ve never had things explained so clearly, or felt so inspired and informed. That means the world to me.

Because this isn’t just about painting — it’s about seeing. It’s about knowing. And about discovering what you’re truly capable of when someone simply shows you how.

🕊️ Soaring Seagull, Soaring Spirit! 🎨🌊
Today I had the joy of teaching a lovely lady how to paint a special piece for her home — a single, majestic seagull flying high across a vivid blue Cornish sky.


Wings outstretched, dancing on the thermals, it glides freely above the cliffs and sea — a symbol of freedom, movement, and perspective.


She’s already completed my 9-hour art course, so today was all about building on that solid foundation — adding new painting techniques, blending transitions in the sky, and capturing that beautiful moment of flight.


I love lessons like this… creative, personal, and full of laughter and learning. 💙✨

This weekend marks nine whole years since I opened the doors to Art at the Beach — and what a journey it’s been!


Over the years, so many of you have popped in, taken lessons, bought paintings, and shared stories. Some of you arrived as strangers and left as lifelong friends. I’ve watched people who never thought they could draw go on to create incredible artworks. I’ve taught on clifftops, in kitchens, on beaches, and over Zoom — and every single moment has added to this incredible adventure.


Thank you for being part of it. For believing in the power of creativity. For supporting local art. And for reminding me — over and over again — why I do what I do.

🎨 A Portrait of Love – Completed in Just 3.5 Hours

Today, this wonderful gentleman completed a portrait of his wife using a full range of professional techniques — from washes and glazing to stippling and drybrush — all in just three and a half hours.

He also brought along two other paintings he created from a previous lesson we’d done together. It’s been an incredible journey to witness his artistic confidence and expression unfold.

This isn’t just painting — it’s memory-making, story-sharing, and self-discovery through creativity.
