There’s a place in Cornwall where the land gives way to a hidden pathway, winding through grasses and wild heather until the beach suddenly opens below you. The sea stretches out in shades of turquoise and deep blue, waves pulling and folding back into rhythm with the cliffs.
This painting of Mawgan Porth captures that moment – the pause before you step down, the silence before the sea takes over your senses. For me, painting Cornwall is never just about the view. It’s about capturing the feeling of standing there: the grounding of earth beneath your feet, the salt on the breeze, the sense of timelessness that makes worries dissolve. That’s what I want my work to hold: not simply an image, but a memory waiting to rise in the heart of the viewer.
